In terms of electrochemical energy storage, China's lithium-ion battery energy storage is at the international advanced level, basically realizing localization, but the degree of automation needs to be improved, some core components such as high-precision film heads rely on foreign imports, and there is less development of new equipment such as high-precision high-speed pole plate thermal composite equipment, large-area high-speed vacuum lithium plating equipment, and dry electrode plate equipment.
In terms of flow batteries, China's all-vanadium flow battery energy storage is generally in the international leading level, a few of the key materials such as proton exchange membrane of vanadium reactor mainly by foreign manufacturers to master the core intellectual property rights, bipolar plates and electrodes due to the imperfect industrial chain has not yet got rid of the constraints of foreign markets, foreign countries are currently stepping up the layout of iron chromium flow, zinc bromine flow batteries.
In terms of other batteries, sodium-sulfur battery technology is monopolized by Japan's NGK, and nickel-sodium chloride batteries are industrialized in China through the introduction of GE technology from the United States.
In terms of mechanical energy storage, China's advanced compressed air energy storage technology research and development is at the international leading level, but the design and manufacturing level of high-power motor is relatively lacking, and it still needs to rely on foreign imports.
In terms of flywheel energy storage, the United States is at the international leading level, and China's key technologies such as large energy storage flywheels, high-speed motors, and maglev are not fully accumulated, and the overall technical level is about 10 years behind that of foreign countries. In terms of electromagnetic energy storage, China's hybrid capacitors are at the international leading level, and double electric layer capacitors and pseudocapacitors are at the keeping up level, but high-precision components such as high-precision coating molds and core materials such as toner, diaphragm and aluminum foil still rely on foreign imports.
(2) Energy storage development prospect
In recent years, the application of energy storage technology has gradually entered people's daily life and become a hot topic in the energy field. Energy storage refers to the technology of storing energy in different forms in order to release it for use by end users when needed. The development of energy storage provides new solutions for energy consumption, grid scheduling and power market development. At present, China and the United States are the two most potential and dynamic energy storage markets in the world.
In the case of China, the development of energy storage technology has made great progress. The Chinese government has actively promoted the development of clean energy and increased its support for the research, development and application of energy storage technologies. At present, China has built a large number of energy storage power stations, including parabolic energy storage power stations, hydrogen gas storage power stations, superconducting energy storage power stations, etc. These energy storage power stations have played an important role in energy storage and power load balance.
At the same time, China has also made significant progress in the completeness of the energy storage industry chain and the size of the market. China's energy storage equipment manufacturing enterprises have made breakthroughs in technological innovation and cost control, and the performance and reliability of energy storage products have been greatly improved. At present, China is the world's largest producer and consumer of lithium-ion batteries, and China's energy storage market ranks among the top in the world.
The development opportunity of China's energy storage market is huge. First of all, China's energy consumption and electricity demand continue to grow, which provides a broad market space for the energy storage industry. Secondly, with the popularization of clean energy and the expansion of the scale of utilization, the demand for energy storage technology in clean energy consumption, grid scheduling and power market development will further increase. In addition, the Chinese government's support for energy storage technology continues to increase, and there will be more policies and funds to support the development of the energy storage industry in the future.
In summary, energy storage, as an emerging technology with broad prospects, is gradually changing the pattern of the energy field. Although there is still some room for progress in China's energy storage market in terms of policy and market environment optimization, there are huge development opportunities for China's energy storage market in the future, and the growth of government support and market demand will bring new development opportunities for the energy storage industry.
1.1.3 Technical analysis
From the perspective of technical route development, lithium-ion battery technology in electrochemical energy storage is more mature and commercialization has begun to take shape, sodium-sulfur batteries are speeding up the deployment of commercial applications, and flow batteries are accelerating demonstration applications. Electrochemical energy storage, as the main force of new energy storage, has begun to move from demonstration applications at the megawatt level to scale marketization at the gigawatt level. Hydrogen energy storage and other types of new energy storage technologies due to low technical maturity, most of them are in the development and demonstration application stage, of which hydrogen energy storage is accelerating the deployment of commercial applications.
From the perspective of technical support system, China's new energy storage innovation units mainly include the state key laboratory of power grid security and energy conservation, the state key laboratory of solar photovoltaic power generation technology and other state key laboratories; Beijing National Energy New Energy Industry Investment Fund, Changsha Advanced Energy Storage Industry Investment Fund Partnership and other industrial investment funds; GB/T 36547-2018 "Electrochemical Energy Storage System Access to the Grid Technical Regulations", GB/T 36558-2018 "Electric Power System Electrochemical Energy Storage System General Technical Conditions" and other technical standards.
From the comparison of the performance indicators of various new energy storage technologies, the comprehensive efficiency of lithium-ion battery, flywheel energy storage and super capacitor energy storage is higher; Compressed air energy storage has lower kilowatt-hour cost and higher service life. In addition to compressed air energy storage, the response sensitivity of other energy storage technologies is at a high level; Lithium-ion batteries in electrochemical energy storage are not only suitable for energy storage applications, but also for power and capacity energy storage applications, and their application fields are the most extensive.
From the perspective of new energy storage technology, the vast majority of investments have been invested in projects related to electrochemical energy storage, the vast majority of which are related to lithium-ion batteries, and a few other projects include sodium-ion batteries, flow batteries, and so on. The choice of energy storage technology in the equity investment market is basically consistent with the proportion of new energy storage in the energy storage market, which reflects that the current lithium-ion battery has been more suitable for energy storage application needs in terms of performance, price and safety, and on the other hand, it also reflects that the energy storage technology route is still uncertain, and most institutions are still on the sidelines of the potential technical route that may replace lithium-ion batteries. From the perspective of lithium battery energy storage industry chain analysis, 22% of the invested projects focus on upstream battery materials and equipment; 27% of the invested projects focus on the production of midstream energy storage devices including batteries, 11% of the invested projects focus on digital energy storage technology, and 13% of the projects can provide integrated energy storage system products. 17% are enterprises operating energy storage projects in the downstream of the industrial chain, including industrial and commercial energy storage, home energy storage and other enterprises.
In the field of electrochemical energy storage, the investment layout is more obvious to the middle stream, and more than half of the invested projects are in the middle stream of the industrial chain. Overall, electrochemical energy storage is the fastest growing new energy storage technology, is the main force of new energy storage technology, it has a higher energy density, the industrial chain is more mature, compared with other energy storage technology in the scene application, technology, cost, construction cycle, conversion efficiency and site requirements have more advantages, with a high degree of flexibility. Among them, lithium battery energy storage is the new energy storage technology with the most investment potential at present, in addition, sodium-sulfur batteries, all-vanadium flow batteries, compressed air energy storage, flywheel energy storage and other technologies also have greater investment potential.
At present, the development of new energy storage technologies is in a stage of rapid evolution and innovation.
