1 Introduction to the Project

1.1 Project background

1.1.1 Product introduction

Yacht refers to the yacht owner, yacht club and its members used for non-commercial sightseeing, leisure and entertainment activities of the ship, as well as in the form of whole boat charter to engage in the aforementioned activities.

Carbon fiber is an excellent shipbuilding material, especially in cases where light hulls are prioritized, and can be used in place of traditional glass fiber and bonded with different resins. The all-carbon fiber yacht is 30% lighter than the same type of glass fiber yacht, higher strength, faster sailing speed, fuel saving and environmental protection.

The project relies on Jilin City's advantages in the output, technology and price of the carbon fiber full product chain to build a carbon fiber composite yacht production line, and give full play to the advantages of light weight, high strength, fast sailing speed, fuel saving and environmental protection of the carbon fiber yacht.

1.1.2 Market prospect

1. Analysis of the development status of China's yacht industry

China's yacht industry is on the cusp of a boom. From 2000 to 2012, it was a rapid development period, mainly business boats, and then entered a bottleneck period, and the development of the business boat market was basically saturated, but fishing boats showed signs of embryonic development. Now is the transition period of the yacht industry, from the main business boats to the development of popular yachts to the mainstream transformation period, the state issued the "Guiding Opinions on Promoting Yacht Tourism" and a series of actions are also guiding and supporting the development of popular yachts. In recent years, with the improvement of domestic enterprise yacht production technology, production capacity continues to expand, and domestic yacht production has grown rapidly.

With the continuous improvement of national income level, people's consumption behavior is changing, and more and more people are pursuing a higher-quality leisure lifestyle. As a high-end and luxurious leisure travel mode, yachts have attracted the attention and favor of many consumers, especially the development of island resorts has promoted the growth of the demand for yachts, and the market scale is also increasing. According to the data of China Shipbuilding Industry Association, from 2018 to 2023, the scale of China's yacht industry showed a fluctuating upward trend, the scale of the yacht industry in 2018 was 2.48 billion yuan, and after a slight decline in 2020 due to the impact of the epidemic, it grew for three consecutive years from 2021 to 2023, and the scale of China's yacht market reached 3.054 billion yuan in 2023. Among them, private yachts accounted for about 41.3%, and institutional and corporate yachts accounted for about 58.7%.

Figure 1 National yacht industry market scale from 2018 to 2023 (unit: 100 million yuan)

China's yacht industry enterprises are mainly distributed in the Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta and Bohai Rim region, and a few are distributed in the central and western regions. According to the data of China Shipbuilding Industry Association, there are more than 120 yacht construction enterprises in China, exporting more than 3 million yachts of all kinds (including yachts and sailboats, etc.), and the number of yachts is about 28,600, mainly distributed in Hainan, Shenzhen, Shandong and other places.

2. Key enterprises of China's yacht industry

China's Haikou, Guangdong, Fujian, Jiangsu, Shandong, Hubei, Jilin, Liaoning, Guangxi and other coastal provinces have actively promoted the development of yacht tourism, especially Guangdong took the lead in the country to launch the "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao free tour" and the construction of public wharfs, and the competition between regions is fierce. The product types of yacht clubs are homogeneous and product innovation is insufficient. The high-end club has corresponding supporting services and related industry support, which is conducive to innovative products. However, the integration of yacht clubs with tourist attractions, resort hotels, real estate, leisure and entertainment services and other industries is insufficient, and the comprehensive effect is limited. The development of small and medium-sized yacht clubs lacks the support of related supporting industries, and it is urgent to innovate and develop.

3. The application of carbon fiber composite materials in yachts

Carbon fiber composite materials are widely used in aerospace, high-speed rail vehicles, civil construction, sports and leisure because of their light weight, high strength, high temperature resistance and other characteristics. The application of carbon fiber composite materials in ship superstructure can reduce the mass and improve the safety performance, when used for ship thrusters, it can reduce the mass of thrusters, reduce fuel consumption and extend the life, and when used for masts and hull structures, it can increase the overall strength. At present, carbon fiber composite materials have been widely used in competition ships, ultra-luxury yachts, high-speed passenger ships and ships for military purposes.

Expensive large yachts are generally privately owned and require light weight, high strength and good durability. Carbon fiber composite materials can be applied to the instrument dial and antenna, rudder and deck, cabin, cabin wall and other reinforced structures. Traditional composite yachts are mainly made of glass steel, but due to insufficient rigidity, the hull is often too heavy after meeting the rigidity design requirements, and carcinogens will be produced in the production process of glass fiber products, which is gradually banned abroad. The proportion of carbon fiber composite materials used in today's composite yachts has increased greatly, and some even all use carbon fiber composite materials. For example, the Sunreef 80 Levante, a carbon fiber catamaran built by Polish catamaran shipyard Sunreef Yachts, uses vinyl ester resin sandwich composite, PVC foam and carbon fiber composite. The mast boom is custom-made carbon fiber composite material, and only part of the hull is made of fiberglass. No load weight of only 45 tons, fast speed, low fuel consumption, excellent performance. With the development of economy and society, the market demand for carbon fiber yachts will expand day by day.

1.1.3 Technical analysis

Carbon fiber yacht hull can be molded process, light weight, impact resistance, corrosion resistance, long service life. In addition, the yacht's staylines and cables can be secured with high-strength carbon fiber ropes. Since carbon fiber has a tensile modulus higher than steel and several times or even tens of times the tensile strength, but also has the fiber can be woven performance, as a matrix material to make carbon fiber rope, just make up for the lack of wire rope and organic polymer rope.
