1. Introduction to the Project
1.1 Introduction to technical achievements
The project product is a high-speed (10Gbps) wireless optical communication device with the high channel fault tolerance (alignment fault tolerance, channel noise fault tolerance), which can solve the bottleneck of the existing high-speed wireless data transmission. On the basis of the existing wireless optical communication products, it carries out optimization from two aspects: communication speed and communication fault tolerance. It is to establish a communication link model to optimize communication system performance. It optimizes the design of the optical system structure for transmitting and receiving, and improves the system’s fault tolerance for alignment errors. It designs improved coding to enhance system error correction, anti-interference, and channel noise tolerance.

The main technologies of the project: modeling and simulation technology for meter level high-speed wireless optical communication channels; integrated beam shaping and transmitting technology with a large field of view; high-speed and fault-tolerant channel coding technology.

The technical achievements of this project have passed the acceptance of Jilin Province Municipal-level Science and Technology Development Project, and the scientific and technological achievement indicators are leading in the laser communication industry.

At the same time, the close range wireless optical communication module technology of the technical team of the project won the title of winning enterprise in Jilin Province Science and Technology Development Plan 2019 - Technology Innovation Guidance - China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition (Jilin Division).

The main products of the project are various wireless optical communication module products, including: close range wireless optical communication modules; kilometer-level wireless optical communication systems; underwater wireless optical communication systems; satellite to satellite, satellite to ground wireless optical communication terminals; various optoelectronic products related to wireless optical communication (including lasers, detectors, atmospheric turbulence simulators, etc.).

1.5 Technical team
The technical team originates from the Key Discipline Laboratory of Aerospace Laser Communication Technology and National Defense at Changchun University of Science and Technology, led by Academician Jiang Huilin. The technical team has been engaged in research on the free space optical communication technology for more than 20 years. There are currently 18 R&D personnel, 14 full-time and 4 part-time; among them, 5 have a doctoral degree and 11 have a master’s degree, with 88.89% of them holding a graduate degree or above. Among them, 11 members have been engaged in long-term research on the free space optical communication technology.
2. Market Potential Analysis
By now, the LEO satellite Internet has set off a wave of infrastructure construction around the world. According to the international mainstream satellite constellation planning, over 74000 satellites will be launched, and a total of over 4000 satellites have been launched, with a user base exceeding one million. By now, satellite Internet has been included in China’s “new infrastructure” as a key development direction. In 2020, China submitted an application to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) for the establishment of the broadband constellation plan of GW-A59 and GW-2, namely, the “Satellite Network Project”. In April, 2021, China Satellite Network Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “China Satellite Network Co., Ltd.”) was officially established. It is the only important state-owned backbone enterprise approved by the central government to engage in the design, construction and operation of satellite Internet, and is positioned as the “fourth largest communication operator”. The satellite network project plans to launch a total of 12992 satellites into low Earth orbit, and the number of deployed satellites will have reached the same level as SpaceX by 2027. The inter satellite link of the satellite network project has been determined to be constructed using laser communication technology, with a huge market space. However, by now, nearly 40 research institutes or enterprises have participated in the research and production of laser communication devices of China Satellite Network Co., Ltd. through the System Institute or Innovation Institute of China Satellite Network Co., Ltd., and the competition is becoming increasingly fierce.
On the other hand, the current capital market is optimistic about the commercialization prospects of satellite laser communication. Private startups represented by Laser Starcom, Histarlink, Shangguang Communication Co., Ltd., and Rong Wei Tech have also participated in the construction of the inter satellite laser communication link of China Satellite Network Co., Ltd. with the help of capital. Among them, Laser Starcom completed the Series A financing of nearly 100 million yuan in March, 2023; Histarlink completed the fifth round of financing worth tens of millions of yuan in April, 2023; Laser Link completed nearly 100 million yuan in Series A financing in November, 2023.
Driven by the satellite network project, satellite laser communication related businesses are bound to become the main direction of the laser communication technology industrialization in the next five years, with the huge market potential.

The project plans to raise 10 million yuan for purchase of product research and development equipment and materials, satellite in-orbit verification, production equipment procurement, and team building (production and research and development teams, sales teams).

After the commercialization of the technical achievements of the project, it is expected to generate a market value of about 60 million yuan.
