It is directly related to the output, quality, and energy consumption of various industrial products, so temperature measurement plays a very important role in industrial production. In actual production, achieving accurate temperature measurement is not a simple task, and measuring the temperature of molten steel is even more difficult. The high temperature of molten steel and the harsh detection environment make measuring the temperature of molten steel a difficult problem in the steelmaking industry. Especially for continuous temperature measurement of molten steel. The project focuses on the research and development of an online temperature measurement system, achieving continuous and high-precision temperature measurement, and supporting the high-quality development of the metallurgical intelligent manufacturing equipment.

1.2.1 Core technical analysis
The core technology adopted in the project is the simultaneous acquisition of temperature field, morphology, and spectrum at the millimeter scale, as well as an expert system based on the residual theory and deep neural networks, allowing the steelmaking furnace to have its own eyes and “brain”.
1.2.2 Technological innovation and advantages
The industrial furnace continuous online thermometer developed by the project adopts a unique high-temperature resistant light guide module, achieving continuous, online high-precision temperature measurement within the range of 900-2200℃. It plays an important role in promoting intelligent manufacturing and quality upgrading, while also providing the important data support for energy conservation, emission reduction, and digital twinning.
A temperature measurement device and method for industrial furnaces with automatic switching between high and low temperatures, invented by the technical team, was approved in 2020. This patent can measure the temperature in industrial furnaces on a large scale and automatically switch displays between high and low temperatures without the need for manual replacement of filters, saving manpower and improving the applicability and convenience of the device.
Compared with the mainstream market products such as S-type platinum rhodium thermocouples and FLUK infrared thermometers, the project products can achieve continuous and high-precision temperature measurement, assist digital twinning and intelligent manufacturing, and safeguard the safety production of steel and metallurgical enterprises.

The main products of the project are industrial furnace continuous online temperature sensors and intelligent steelmaking systems based on the continuous online temperature measurement technology. It can be applied to some industries such as steelmaking, laser processing, and casting.

1.5 Technical team
Xu Lijun, the project leader, a PhD, professor at Changchun University of Technology, and key member of Jilin Provincial Key Laboratory of Spectral Detection. He has undertaken and participated in 16 national level projects such as National Defense 973 and National Defense 863. He has applied for 30 patents of various types and authorize 18 patents. The core team of the company has PhDs from various disciplines such as optics, microelectronics, and finance and accounting, making it a dynamic and innovative team. At present, the company’s products have been applied in fields such as steelmaking, new energy, and crystal growth and have received praise. The products have been applied for 9 national patents, obtaining 4 authorizations, and having 11 software copyrights.

The project aims to address the pain points of industries such as steelmaking and crystal growth that cannot achieve continuous online temperature measurement in high-temperature and high interference environments. Through independently developed high-temperature resistant light guiding modules, the first domestic industrial furnace continuous online temperature measurement instrument has been successfully developed, solving the global problem of continuous online temperature measurement in steelmaking furnaces. It is expected to be widely used in industries such as steelmaking, laser processing, and casting in the future, with the huge market space.
